More details
In July 2004 the dream the Perivolas Suite had been came true.
It was the culmination of many years' planning, the aim having always been to perfect the ideal island hideaway:
a personal retreat, exclusive, intimate and informal overlooking one of the most magical sights in the world.
The setting is beautiful. The Suite has been fashioned out of the unique environment incorporating the materials and techniques of the original cavern dwellings. It is imbued with peacefulness and respect for the past.
Recessed lighting enhances the ambience, creating shadows and forms as decor.
Blue light reflects in shimmering patterns against the white ceiling of the bedroom, which opens on to the private pool,
whilst the olive tree in the sitting area, basked in a shaft of sunlight from an opening above, is a reminder to guests of the Greek island they have come to experience…
In its 120 square metres the Suite comprises a spacious, centrally situated sitting area from which all other areas - double bedroom, spa facility containing steam bath and hydrotherapy massage pool, swimming pool - are interconnected and accessible via openings and arched doorways.
Clean lines and white, hand-sculpted walls are offset by warm, rich mahogany furniture, and bright-coloured soft furnishings reflect the bougainvillea and geraniums found in the gardens around the property.
Every aspect of the Suite is unique. There is no repetition and no symmetry.
Quite simply, it is an unequalled Aegean retreat.
The property commands a breath-taking view of the Volcano and Caldera for which Santorini is renowned. A sculptured fresh-water swimming pool and terrace bar complete the relaxing atmosphere.
Due to the cliffside construction of the property (and especially the pool area), bookings for children under 16 years of age are not accepted.
No effort has been spared in conserving the traditional aesthetics of the caves, while interior bathrooms and comforts to serve modern needs and desires have been added.
Several of the seventeen houses were once wineries and stables, and in these, the original vats and mangers have been carefully preserved. Each cave house is unique in shape and character, while remaining preserving the local architecture.
Furnished in Cycladic style and decorated with antiques from the Aegean Islands, the Perivolas houses feature vaulted ceilings one or two rooms with sitting area, domed bathroom with shower, fully equipped kitchenette, air-conditioning, direct dial telephone, and private terrace area with sea view. A healthy buffet breakfast is served at the poolside bar daily, and cafe style lunches and cocktails are also available.
